

Paul W. Wallace, 85, of Hope, passed away at 3:25 a.m. on Tuesday, September 5,
2023 at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born on July 12, 1938 in Columbus,
Indiana the son of Paul K. and Florence Jean (Trinkle) Wallace. He was raised in
Hope and had been a resident all of his life. He graduated from Clifford High
School in 1956 and was a member of the Columbus Community Church. He retired from
Cummins Engine Company after 32 years of service. Paul enjoyed gardening, playing
with his dogs and travelling. He was an avid Purdue fan and enjoyed following his
kids and grandkids in their sporting events. He married Shirley Gatewood on May 3,
1997 in Hope, Indiana and she survives. Other survivors include 4 daughters, Kim
(Dave) Dillahay of Columbus; Celsie Miller and Casey Miller both of Hope, Amber
Boyd of Louisville, Kentucky; 9 sons, Jeff (Pam) Wallace and Cody Miller both of
Columbus, Greg (Carolyn) Wallace, Mike (Tracy) Wallace, Eric (Susan) Wallace and
Tim Wallace all of Hope, Kevin (Susan) Wallace of Fairland, Tim Boyd and Brad Boyd
both of North Vernon; sister, Patricia (Del) May of South Bend; brother, Stanley
(Arline) Wallace of Lafayette; 32 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by his parents; his son, Steve “Burt” Wallace and his brother,
Dale Wallace. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 1:00
p.m.at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Dale Boyd
officiating. Burial will take place following the service at the Westport
Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 12 from 11:00
a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial
contributions may be made to Spina Bifida Association in honor of Izaiah Wallace
