“Preach” Kim Huffman, 71

“Preach” Kim Huffman, 71, of Westport, passed away at 9:35 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at the Our Hospice Inpatient Center in Columbus. He was born on September 3, 1950 in Wabash, Indiana the son of Charles Raymond & Vera Imogene (Dyson) Huffman. He grew up in Roann, Indiana and has been a resident of Westport since 2019. He graduated from Northfield Jr./Sr. High School in 1968. Received his Bachelor’s Degree in 1972 from Cincinnati Bible Seminary. In 1993 he received his Master’s Degree from Johnson Bible College and in 2002 received his Master of Divinity Degree from Trinity Theological Seminary. In 1989 he attended clown school at Smiles Unlimited in Seymour. Kim served as a youth minister in Frankton and Converse, Indiana; Associate Minister to the youth and deaf in Catlin, Illinois; Pastor in Barryton, Michigan; 14 years as minister in Flatrock, Indiana; minister in Weston, Ohio; 16 years in Goshen, Indiana and currently the Seniors Minister at the Westport Christian Church in Westport, Indiana. Wherever he was ministering everyone fondly called him “Preach”. He had been a Boy Scout for over 50 years, member of Westport Christian Church, Clown of America International since 1989, he started the wilderness program at Hilltop Christian Camp; a Hospice Volunteer for 5 years; he was part of the Basic aid training program with the Red Cross; member of the NRA; he owned an Indian teepee and participated in Pioneer Days; he attended the Northmen Organization (Christian rally) for 42 years. Kim enjoyed fishing and being Stoney the Clown. He authored four books, I Am A Servant; Ephesians-What the Church is to Be and Do!; 30 Pit Stops On The Roman Road and The Adventures of Gray Fox From Squirrel Creek. He married Janet L. Freese on August 19, 1972 in Cincinnati, Ohio and she survives along with his daughter, Joy Gaye (Harvey) Graf of Cold Spring, KY; his son, Keith Jeremy (Hannah) Huffman of Pendleton, Indiana; his brother, Cameron Huffman of Umatilla, Florida; his three grandchildren, Trevor, Vera & Evelyn. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2022 at the Westport Christian Church with Pastor Mike Bartlett officiating. The family will receive visitors from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00. Memorial contributions may be made to the Westport Christian Church or Hilltop Christian Camp through the funeral home.
