Rose A (Simmermeyer) Weisenbach passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023
peacefully at her home. Rose was born on August 17, 1940 in Batesville, Indiana to
Valentine (Jack) and Anna (Brandes) Simmermeyer.
Rose graduated from Oldenburg Academy in 1958. She worked at Steinkamp’s until
starting her family. Rose was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, St. Anthony’s
Ladies Auxiliary, and Morris Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was also
a member of the IVFA Auxiliary where she was awarded the Lois Boaz Memorial award
in 2003. This award was granted to her for her great dedication to the Fire Association.
Early in their marriage, Ray and Rose lived across the road from the Morris Fire House
and for many years, Rose would get phone calls when the fire department was needed.
Rose would run to the firehouse to ring the fire bell to alert the firemen. Rose also
enjoyed over 50 years playing cards with her card club.
Rose married Raymond Weisenbach on November 17, 1962. Rose is survived by her
husband, Raymond Weisenbach, Batesville, and seven children; Kimberly (Leroy)
Hountz Sunman, Shari (Mark) Strassell Morris, Sandy Volk Greenburg, Joe (Bonnie)
Weisenbach Greensburg, Jeff (Cindy) Weisenbach Batesville, John (Barbara Brummett)
Weisenbach, Greensburg, Krissy Jackson Batesville, and son-in-law Doug Huffmeyer of
Napoleon; one sister Jackie Armbruster of Morris Hill, and 17 grandchildren, 24 great
grandchildren, 1 step granddaughter, and 5 step great grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, her daughter Susan Huffmeyer, son-in-law
David Volk, and siblings; Doris Doll, Frank Simmermeyer, Imelda Allgeier, Martha
Simmermeyer and Barb Lecher.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 26 th from 4 to 7 pm at Weigel Funeral Home in
Batesville, with a IVFA Auxiliary service starting at 4 pm. A funeral mass will be held at
St. Anthony’s of Padua of Morris on Wednesday, September 27 th at 10 am. Burial will
follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Morris.
