Sheila Jae Idlewine, 78 of Westport, passed away at 10:57 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2021 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital. She was born on October 17, 1942 in Avon, South Dakota, the daughter of Christian J. and Rosella (Fischer) Wittmeier. She was born and raised in Avon, South Dakota and graduated from Avon High School in 1960. She has been a Westport resident since 1963. She retired in 1999 from Cosco in Columbus after 22 years of service. Sheila was a member of the Westport Christian Church and the Good Sam RV Club. She enjoyed basket weaving, reading and crocheting. She married Norman Eugene “Butch” Idlewine in Westport, on November 21, 1963 and he survives along with her daughters, Lynette Jae Idlewine of Westport, Michelle Jean (Jeff) Adams of Greensburg and Kimberly Ann Owens of Greensburg; her sisters, Kalma Koenig of Desota, Texas and Gudrun Schoenrogge of St. Francis, Kansas; her brother, Clayton Wittmeier of Avon, South Dakota; her grandchildren, Haylee Owens, Brayton Owens, Kirsten Adams and Austin Adams all of Greensburg; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Eileen Skelton, Genevieve Kozel and Lorine Gandolf and brothers, Leverene, John Delbert, Russell and Eugene Wittmeier. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with Pastors George Willette and Kim Huffman officiating. Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
