Steven A. Baumgartner, 61, of Enterprise, Alabama unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan Alabama surrounded by his loving family.
Steve was the son of Dale and Patsy (Cook) Baumgartner of Decatur County. Steve was a graduate of North Decatur High School of 1978. After receiving a degree from Vincennes University he enlisted in the Air Force Special Forces. During his time in the Special Forces Steve was awarded several commendations for heroic actions and dedication to duty, one being the Bronze Star Medal with Valor during Desert Storm.
After a military career of 21 years and upon retiring Steve held a position with US Veterans Affairs Mental Health Services which provided assistance to fellow veterans.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents (Dale and Patsy). Steve is survived by his wife Eva, daughters Jessi and Jenni of Enterprise, Alabama. Surviving sisters Deborah (Jerry) Wiley of Waldron, Indiana, Vicky Petts of Avon, Indiana along with nieces Shana (Wiley) Hall of St. Paul, Minnesota, Dayla Brooke (Wiley) Thurston of St. Paul, Indiana and Alyson (Petts) Edwards of Avon, Indiana.
Steve will be remembered as a devoted family man who also loved his church and country. A memorial service will be held in Enterprise, Alabama at a later date. R.I.P.
