Thomas “Tom” Justin Johannigman

Thomas (Tom, Pops, Poppy) Justin Johannigman, 70, of Millhousen, passed away Wednesday January 21, 2026 at his home in Millhousen. Tom was born on January 13, 1956 in Greensburg, Indiana to Evelyn (Schwering) and Justin Johannigman. Tom married the love of his life, Lois Merkel, on April 22, 1978. Tom lived a very simple life with his wife of 48 years. He was a mechanic for 33 years at Al Reynolds before they closed down, and then moved onto work at K. B. Foods in the Maintenance Department in Greensburg for about 15 years in which he retired in 2022. He loved helping his family and friends anyway he could from working on their vehicles to tinkering on farm equipment out in his barn. He was always eager to take on a challenge, seeing how much he could create from nothing.

Tom was a man of very few words, but had a passion for anything deer, John Deere that is. He enjoyed going hunting with his beagle dog, grandkids, and friends. Tom loved to fish back at his pond with loved ones and camping together. He enjoyed listening to bluegrass music and attending the Happy Valley and Bean Blossom Bluegrass Festivals. He loved attending the Power of the Past in Greensburg with his family and grandchildren. Tom had a heart for playing his guitar and mandolin that was passed down to him from his father.

He was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Millhousen where he participated in the Men’s Choir. He was also a long time member of the Knights of St. John in Millhousen.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lois, all four children, 13 grandchildren, his mother Evelyn Johannigman, 1 brother Mark Johannigman, and 4 sisters; Sue & Steve Koors of Greensburg, Mary & Mike Moorman of Sunman, Julie & Kevin Bower of Oldenburg, and Karen & Bill Brown of St. Paul, as well as aunts, uncles and lots of cousins. Tom was preceded in death by his father Justin Johannigman and his sister Linda Hollis.
