Wayne Mobley, 67

Wayne T. Mobley, of Sunman, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 30, 2022. Born on July 28, 1954, Wayne was the youngest child of Vergis and Alice (née: Plough) Mobley. Wayne graduated from Brookville High School and then moved to Cincinnati to work in the restaurant business, including The Netherland Plaza. After moving back home, Wayne worked at Johnson and Johnson, and then in the electronics and mattress departments at Hill-Rom for 41 years, before retiring.

Wayne had a passion for cooking and everyone loved his chili, peanut butter fudge, and marshmallow sweet potato casserole to name a few. He loved being creative and making news recipes.  Wayne loved the outdoors with summer being his favorite season. He couldn’t wait for hot weather. At home, you would find him mowing his lawn, while sipping on a cold drink, and getting a nice tan. He was so proud of his beautiful landscaped flower garden and immaculate vegetable garden. He loved going to the beach, especially Cancun where he had taken several trips with family. Wayne had impeccable taste, had beautiful handwriting, and never left a detail undone. He enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and his favorite hobby was working on genealogy. He would spend hours and hours researching. Wayne loved his family so much and he was so proud of how much information he was able to contribute to the family. Wayne also enjoyed spending time with his special friends, the Ruehls, who were like family to him.

Wayne was a wonderful brother, son, friend, and the best uncle being considered to be like a second father to some. He is survived by his brother Jim Mobley of Rushville, Indiana, and sisters Juanita Mobley of Sunman, Barbara (Mike) of California, Ruth Ann Horn of Madison, Indiana, and Sue Harpring of Batesville, Indiana, sister-in-law Rosie Mobley of Batesville, Indiana and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Norma Broughton and brother Laurence (Shorty) Mobley.

Wayne’s wishes were to be cremated.  A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at New Testament Baptist Church in Penntown, IN from 1-3pm with 3:00pm service. Nephew Kenny Mobley officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Wayne had requested memorials be given to St. Paul Cemetery in Sunman for maintenance in lieu of flowers. These may be mailed to Meyers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 202, Batesville, IN 47006.

Please feel free to leave a memory or a message of comfort for Wayne’s family in the online guestbook at www.meyersfuneralhomes.com.
