William Allen Hays, Sr., 75, of Greensburg, passed away at 11:25 p.m. on Monday,
April 15, 2024 at the Willows of Greensburg Nursing Home. He was born on October
6, 1948 in Logansport, Indiana the son of Doyle and Lottie Marie (Mikels) Hays.
He was a lifelong resident of Decatur County and had worked for KOVA, Muscatatuk
State Hospital and Stewart Seeds. He enjoyed bowling, listening to Country Music
and he loved playing Poker and Bingo with his family. He was a Vietnam veteran
having served in the U.S. Marines from April 1968 – April 1979. Survivors
include his sisters, Alice Faye Ballard of Columbus, Betty (Bobby) Meadows and
Sandra L. Meadows both of Greensburg; his brothers, Gene (Libby) Hays and Roger
Hays both of Columbus and Randy (Linda) Hays of Westport; 8 grandchildren; 5
great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, William
Hays, Jr. and Anthony Bryon Hays; sister, Roberta L. Adams and a brother,
Timothy Wray Hays. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April
22, 2024 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Gary East
officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Aerie Cemetery with Military graveside
rites. A time of visitation will be held on Monday, April 22 from 12:00 p.m.
until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions
