William Jospeph Bloemer, 64

William (“Billy”) Joseph Bloemer, 64, of North Vernon, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at his home.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 28, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, with Father Jerry Byrd officiating and burial will be at St. Ann’s Cemetery.   Visitation will be at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service on Friday, January 27, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and the Rosary will be prayed at 2:30 p.m.

Billy was born on January 21, 1959, at Seymour, Indiana, to Louis and Agnes (Gasper) Bloemer.

Billy was a 1977 graduate of Jennings County High School.  He was a self‑employed farmer.  He enjoyed golfing, playing Euchre, poker, outdoor grilling, and gardening (well known for his sweet corn crop). He enjoyed joking with friends and family, especially his nieces and nephews.  He helped organize golf scrambles for scholarship fundraising.  Billy was generous, kind, reliable and always there to help anyone that needed help.  He was a patriot and always had a wagon full of fireworks to set off to share with family and friends for celebrations.

He is survived by his mother, Agnes Bloemer of North Vernon; brother, Ron (Kay) Bloemer of North Vernon; sisters: Louise Bloemer of Indianapolis; Linda (Bill) Robertson of Kentland; Mary Gerth of Alexandria, Virginia; Carol (Jace) Helms of Westport; Doris (Tom) Flora of Scipio; Joyce O’Mara of Seymour; and Jeanette (Scott) Zunker of Spring Branch, Texas.  He had 17 nieces and nephews and 18 great nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Bloemer, and his brother-in-law (Tom O’Mara).

Memorials can be made to St. Ann Cemetery, St. Vincent de Paul, and/or donor’s choice.
