Attempted Murder and Aggravated Battery Charges filed in Bartholomew County

Robbie Perez has been formally charged in the Bartholomew County Circuit Court with one
count of Attempted Murder and two counts of Aggravated Battery, he is being held without bond.

On 06/01/2023 at approximately 11:25 PM deputies from the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office as
well as officers from the Hope Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 300 blk of
Elm St in Hope, IN.

A George Perez Jr. 36yo of Hope as well as his 3yo son both suffered gunshot wounds and were
transported to Indianapolis area hospital by Lifeline. George was treated and released however his son
remains in the hospital undergoing treatment.

On 06/02/2023 at approximately 10:49 AM the Sheriff’s Office was notified that the silver Chevrolet
HHR allegedly being driven by Robbie Perez was westbound on E King St near its intersection with
Interstate 65 in Johnson County. Franklin Police Department was able to locate the vehicle and
attempted to stop the vehicle.

A vehicle pursuit ensued during which Robbie Perez was taken into custody. Robbie Perez was found to
be suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the end of the pursuit. He was transported to
Eskenazi Hospital for evaluation/treatment. The vehicle was processed by crime scene technicians
during which a firearm was located inside the vehicle.

The investigation has revealed that the family dispute which culminated in the shooting centered
around a long term feud between Robbie Perez and George Perez Jr, the two are brothers.

The filing of a criminal charge is simply an allegation and is not evidence of guilt.  All suspects are
presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.  The Indiana Rules of
Professional Conduct prohibit the prosecutor from further commenting on this matter.  At this time,
there will be no further comment.
