On 04/11/2025 at approximately 11:31 PM Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies were alerted to a
reckless driving vehicle traveling southbound on I65. The vehicle was described as swerving on the
roadway and brake checking several other vehicles. Deputies located the vehicle and attempted to
conduct a traffic stop.
The vehicle accelerated to speeds of more that 110mph. During the vehicle pursuit the suspect vehicle attempted to exit the interstate at the 64-mile marker however lost control of the vehicle. The collision resulted in the vehicle going airborne as well as rolling over which entrapped one of the three occupants.
Deputies took all three occupants into custody; they were found to be juveniles all of which are believed to have been intoxicated. The subsequent investigation discovered that the vehicle driven by the juveniles was reported stolen out of Indianapolis. All three juveniles received medical treatment including a passenger who was transported to Riley Children’s Hospital by ambulance.
The 16yo driver of the vehicle was remanded into the custody of the Bartholomew County Youth Services Center on the charges of: Possession of marijuana, Possession of Stolen Property, Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle, Operating While Intoxicated, Operating While Intoxicated Endangerment
and Illegal Consumption.
The other 2 juveniles will have criminal charges forwarded due to their medical treatment. This is a preliminary investigation.
