Driver stops vehicle in roadway and then leads deputies on pursuit in Bartholomew County


On January 21, 2021, at approximately 10:17 p.m., Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputy Ryland Fluhr observed a vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway in the 6000 block of E 600 N.  Deputy Fluhr activated his emergency lights and the vehicle began moving.  When Deputy Fluhr attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle fled to the area of E 600 N and N Marr Road.

The suspect vehicle ran off the roadway multiple times in an attempt to evade deputies.   The vehicle eventually stopped on N Marr Road, near the intersection of E 450 N.  The driver, identified as Brian Bay, 50, Columbus, was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges involving allegations of:

Resisting Law Enforcement

Bay has since been released.

All persons are considered innocent unless/until proven guilty in a court of law.
