From the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department
On 05/31/2023 at approximately 8:45 a.m., Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an
accident with injuries at the intersection of S 525 E and E 100 S. At this time, it is believed that a
northbound Ford passenger car traveling on 525 E being driven by a Ayden Pittman 19yo of North
Vernon failed to yield the right of way to a westbound SUV.
In the resulting collision, the two occupants of the SUV, Heather Baker 52yo of Columbus, IN and Sydney
Dietrich 23yo of Columbus, IN suffered minor injuries, they were later transported to Columbus Regional
Hospital. Pittman suffered significant injuries to his back and abdominal area and was flown by Lifeline
to Methodist Hospital. Katelyn Tullis 20yo of Madison, IN the passenger of the Ford passenger car was
pronounced deceased on scene.
This collision is actively being investigated by the Bartholomew County Accident Reconstruction Team.
