Margaret Mary Health COVID-19 Update: 9.08.21
Over the last week our patient positivity rate for COVID and inpatient volumes have unfortunately continued to increase. As we closely monitor state models of this latest surge, we anticipate it will get worse in our communities before positivity rates and hospitalizations start to decline.
The Ripley Co. Covid positivity rate is 11.36% and remains in “orange” status. The Franklin Co. Covid positivity rate is 17.74% and remains in “red” status.
Emergency Department: Over the past week our Emergency Department average daily census has been 30% higher than our normal daily patient volumes. As a result, patient wait times continue to be longer than normal.
Inpatient Care: We currently have 23 patients on our Med Surg floor, with 2 of those patients in our Special Care Unit. 9 of our patients are Covid positive. We have not had this many COVID patients on our Med Surg floor at one time since mid-January. The average age of our hospitalized COVID+ patients since the beginning of August is 59.
Testing: In the last week we have had 60 patients who tested positive for Covid, with a current positivity rate of 27.6%. See chart for more details on testing results. MMH can provide testing for symptomatic patients at our Main Campus Lab with an order from your primary care provider. Current turnaround times are typically within 48 hours.
