Motorcycle driver and passenger injured in crash

From the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department –

On April 27, 2021, approximately 3:56 p.m., a northbound motorcycle driver failed to stop for slowed traffic on US 31 just south of CR 100 S. After skidding approximately 75-feet, the motorcycle came to rest on the eastside of the roadway. The driver, identified as Tony G. Michael, 53, North Vernon, and a female passenger were thrown from the motorcycle.

Michael was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital. His passenger was flown to an Indianapolis hospital.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Neither the driver nor the passenger were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy, Major Chris Lane, reminds motorists to watch for motorcycles now that warmer weather means that more cyclists will be out on the roadways. “I also want to remind motorcyclists to follow all rules of the road as well and to please wear protective gear”, said Major Lane.
