On September 28, 2021, approximately 1:31 p.m., Bartholomew County Sheriff’s units were dispatched to the intersection of E State Street and S 250 E in reference to a multiple vehicle crash.
Witness statements and camera footage confirmed that a pickup truck, traveling southbound on S 250 E, entered the lane of travel on E State Street and collided with a pickup truck hauling a trailer. The pickup truck and trailer then went into the westbound lane where it collided with a westbound semi-trailer truck.
The semi was hauling a 40-thousand-pound steel roll that went through the trailer crushing the rear of the semi.
Two of the drivers were transported to Columbus Regional Hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The intersection was closed for serval hours.
