Senate Bill 5 a priority in the Indiana General Assembly says Jean Leising

Protecting Data Privacy
Whether you go to the grocery, shop online or put gas in your car, businesses are always collecting your data. Unfortunately, there are no federal regulations for businesses to follow when it comes to protecting customer data.

That’s why Senate Republicans have made Senate Bill 5 a priority, which would establish valuable consumer rights regarding personal data and require businesses to have data protection assessment and security checks.

Here in Indiana, we want to protect consumers, and that includes protecting personal data a business may have collected. As technology continues to advance, this legislation would not only enhance consumer protections, but it would also provide clear direction on what businesses can and cannot do with our personal information.
