Mayor Issues Proclamation for March Disabilities Awareness Month

Disability Awareness Month 

WHEREAS, the City of Greensburg recognizes the importance of fostering an inclusive and accessible community for individuals of all abilities; and 

WHEREAS, approximately one in four Americans has a disability, and individuals with disabilities contribute significantly to the social, economic, and cultural vitality of our community; and 

WHEREAS, March is nationally recognized as Disability Awareness Month, providing an opportunity to increase public awareness, promote understanding, and advocate for equal opportunities for people with disabilities; and 

WHEREAS, this month serves as a time to acknowledge the progress made toward inclusion, while also recognizing the barriers that still exist and committing to furthering accessibility and equity in all aspects of community life; and 

WHEREAS, the City of Greensburg supports organizations, individuals, and initiatives that strive to improve access to education, employment, healthcare, and independent living for people with disabilities; and 

WHEREAS, by working together, we can create a more welcoming and supportive environment for all residents, ensuring that people of all abilities have the opportunity to live, work, and participate fully in our community. 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mayor Joshua, do hereby proclaim the month of March in 2025 as Disability Awareness Month in the City of Greensburg and encourage all residents to promote inclusion, celebrate the abilities of all individuals, and work toward a more accessible and equitable future.
