Greensburg City Council met on Tuesday.
There was a public hearing on the ADA Transition Plan. There was no public comment.
Rick Anderson with Veregy discussed energy savings with a solar plan for the city. Since their last presentation, they have made a change to the plan focusing on the Waste Treatment Plant. They made a recommendation to increase the size of the solar ray at the plant to increase earnings for excess energy being sent back to the grid. This change is favorable with the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and would help further earnings for the city. There were 2 cash flows presented: one with 9 cents per kilowatt per hour over production and the other with 6 cents per kilowatt. The rest of the project remains the same. The rate increases in Indiana are not going to slow and neither will utility issues; this project would help remove them from that and crest a legacy that they left the city in a better position. The warranty for the solar panels are based on performance to stay at a certain level. This project would require a lot of advertising and proposals, in which they would have more set projects and details on what the city wants and needs. This was tabled for further information and discussion.
Veridus Group gave an update on the Municipal Complex Project. They have had bids received for the Fire Station design. They have submitted the construction design release to the state and are hoping to hear back by the end of the week. There was a meeting held on the Street Department in which they were given an updated design and gave feedback items of their own. The steel had been ordered for the Street Department and will arrive in June or July, which is on target for the project timeline. There will be a groundbreaking event held for the Municipal Complex Project May 13 at 10:30 am.
City Engineer Ron May presented Resolution 2023-02 for the adoption of ADA Transition Plan. This is a plan that needs updates consistently. This was approved.
IT Director Josh Tressler presented the email and Microsoft licensing request. This is in order to unify and update the software for the city. Their current system works, however they want to make it the best it can be and there are pieces and parts that are not working to the extent that is needed. The city and county would each pay their portion for this licensing, as it decreases the price with more people on the contract. The board approved contingent upon county agreement as well.
Mayor Josh Marsh brought up the appointment to the Greensburg Community School Board. They must find a republican appointee by the next council meeting.
