Washington Township Trustee Beverly Rivera and Clerk Lori Garringer recognized the importance of honoring veterans—those who have passed, currently living, and those on active duty—at two local cemeteries. Determined to take action, Beverly collaborated with a local business to design and install commemorative benches. These benches have been placed to be used by all who visit the cemeteries. Beverly Rivera said that the Greensburg Optimist will place flags during each of the holidays that they place flags throughout the county next to the benches.

The dedication ceremony drew a diverse group of attendees, including families of fallen veterans, veterans themselves, active-duty military personnel, members of the Greensburg Fire Department, and the general public.
