This crash is still under investigation, but the preliminary indications are that the driver of  the passenger car, Saylor Scripture, 18 years of age, from Greensburg, was stopped in  traffic on northbound St. Rd. 3, waiting for a farm tractor in front of her, also northbound, that was turning left (west) from St. Rd. 3 into an address at 5625 North St. Rd. 3.  As she was preparing to accelerate after the tractor turned, she felt a motorcycle, also traveling northbound, hit the rear of her passenger car.

The motorcycle was driven by John Austin Jacobi, 25 years of age, from Rushville, IN.  The passenger on the motorcycle was identified as Vanessa Khala Tuell, 27 years of age, from North Vernon, IN. Witnesses to the crash stated the motorcycle was laid down on its side, just prior to impact with the passenger car.

Statflight 5 and Statflight 2 helicopters were dispatched, with one landing at North Decatur High School and the other landing at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital.  The two helicopters transported Jacobi and Ms. Tuell to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis with non-life-threatening injuries.
