Pirate boys tally perfect score in XC meet against North Decatur

On Thursday evening, the Pirates raced their home course against the North Decatur Chargers. 

The Pirate boys took the top five spots in the race, winning the meet with a perfect score of 15 to North Decatur’s 46. Kason Bedel led the Pirates for a first place finish in 12:33, followed by Miles Gill with a new PR of 12:38 for second. Next, a pack of three Pirates crossed the line as Liam Hernandez, Luke Harris, and Easton Character took places 3-5. Hernandez ran a PR of 13:28. Also in the top 10 were Collin Rich (8th), Sam Black (9th), and Konner Luers (10th). Rylan Herpel placed 13^th with a PR time of 17:14 and Preston Meadows rounded out the Pirates lineup in 14th. 

In the girls’ race, the Pirates lost a close meet, collecting 29 points to North Decatur’s 26. The Pirates were led by Maria Scholle and Hadley Davis, who placed 1^st and 2^nd with times of 11:57 and 13:09. Hayden Saylor finished in 7^th place with a time of 14:45. Ava Doig and Isabelle Macku finished inside the top 10, taking 9^th and 10^th place. Isabelle ran a new PR of 16:49. Violet Macku finished 11th, Sarita Walker took 12^th in a PR 17:22, and Noelle Kern finished 14^th for the Pirates.
