DECATUR COUNTY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL RECOGNIZES NATIONAL TAKE BACK DAY WITH SAFE DRUG DISPOSAL BOX

Greensburg, IN – October 25, 2025, In recognition of the biannual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on October 25, Decatur County Memorial Hospital (DCMH), in partnership with the Greensburg Prevention Group (GPG), proudly reminds the community about the Safe Drug Disposal Box available at DCMH.

This initiative reflects DCMH’s ongoing commitment to public health and safety by offering a secure, environmentally responsible way for individuals to dispose of expired or unused medications.

“Prescription drug misuse and environmental contamination are serious public health concerns,” said Josh Pike, PharmD, Director of Pharmacy at DCMH. “With GPG’s help and partnership, we continue to provide a safe, secure, and compliant way for our community to dispose of expired and unused medications.”

Improper disposal of medications can lead to accidental poisonings, substance misuse, and pollution of local water sources. The disposal box offers a convenient solution to mitigate these risks, especially as communities across the nation participate in Take Back Day efforts.

“This is an incredibly important resource and service we provide,” said Amber Myers, PharmD, Retail Pharmacy Supervisor. “It’s also a great reason for our community to stop in and see us in the Retail Pharmacy!”

The Safe Drug Disposal Box is located inside the Retail Pharmacy at DCMH (720 N. Lincoln St., Greensburg, IN). It is accessible Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. All members of the community are encouraged to take advantage of this free and anonymous service.
