In times when the world can feel uncertain and kindness sometimes seems in short supply, Decatur County has once again reminded us of what true community looks like. During the very first Pack the Patrol Car event supporting Bread of Life, our community came together in an incredible show of generosity and compassion.
In just five short hours, 5,364 pounds of food were donated which is true testament to the caring hearts that make up our community. The support was so great that it took three fully loaded Sheriff patrol trucks, two Dodge Durangos, and one and a half Bread of Life transit vans to transport donations.

Throughout the event, visitors had the chance to connect with Bread of Life volunteers, Sheriff’s deputies and their spouses, and members of the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT).

Bread of Life is a local organization that provides free hot meals several times a week to those who might otherwise go without. Thanks to the incredible kindness shown at this event, thousands of donated items will soon be transformed into nourishing meals, warm smiles, and full hearts for those who need them most.
Decatur County, you’ve proven once again that when we come together, we make a difference — one meal, one moment, and one act of kindness at a time.
