Arrest made in a burglary call to Greensburg Police

GREENSBURG, IN. – On November 1, 2023, at approximately 3:15pm, the
Greensburg Police Department Officers responded to the 300 block of West
Washington Street for a report of an active burglary in process.
Greensburg Police Officers arrived at the residence and contacted the homeowner,
who advised the suspect was still inside. Officers began clearing the residence when
they noticed the suspect had gained access into the attic.
Due to the suspect pushing down on the attic access while Greensburg Officers were
attempting to gain entry, Officers called for the Greensburg Fire Department ladder
truck to gain outside entry through an attic window, as well as the Greensburg Police
Department Tactical Response Team.
Officers were able to gain access through the attic window and located the suspect
hiding in the insulation of the attic. The suspect was taken into custody without further
incident.
The Greensburg Police Department Arrested Matthew Beagle, (41) of Shelbyville, IN.
Beagle’s charges involve allegations of –

  1. Burglary
  2. Intimidation
  3. Resisting Law Enforcement
    The Greensburg Police Department would like to thank the following agencies who
    assisted. Decatur County Communications, Greensburg Fire Department, and the
    Decatur County Sheriff’s Dept.
    Under Indiana Law, criminal charges are merely accusations, and the defendants are
    presumed to be innocent unless, and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
