Recently, the Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) announced it has awarded $3,750 to the Arts & Cultural
Council of Decatur County for the Greensburg / Decatur County Recycled Art Show through the Arts
Project Support grant program.
During its June 14 Quarterly Business Meeting, the Commission approved funding recommendations for
the Arts Project Support and Arts Organization Support grant programs. Between the two grant programs,
338 organizations in 77 Indiana counties are receiving funding.
“All across Indiana we have seen the positive impact that investing in arts and creativity has on quality of
life,” said Anne Penny Valentine, Chair of the Indiana Arts Commission. “Each of the projects and
organizations selected to receive funding are doing exceptional creative work in and for Hoosier
communities. The Commission is excited and honored to support the work these organizations are doing
to engage the public, develop their communities and encourage creativity across our state.”
Devin Morgan, President of the Arts & Cultural Council of Decatur County, shares, “Our mission and goal
as an organization is to promote, support, and enhance arts and cultural activities through education,
exposure, and participation.” The generosity of the Arts Project Support grant program is allowing our
organization to partner with two other city organizations, the Art on the Square Gallery and Decatur
County Solid Waste Management, to provide a platform for this year’s Recycled Art Show. Now through
August 24th, all Greensburg/Decatur County residents have the opportunity to submit recycled artwork to
Art on the Square Gallery for the Recycled Art Show.
Our organizations chose to host a Recycled Art Show because it offers an opportunity for everyone to
participate in creating art at little to no cost. It allows individuals to showcase their creativity by
transforming everyday waste and unused items into stunning, sustainable masterpieces.
The Recycled Art Show will be on display from September 1st through September 24th. We are
especially excited that the Art on the Square Gallery has partnered with us to exhibit this show during the
month of September, as it coincides with the Tree City Fall Festival (Friday, September 20th and
Saturday, September 21st), which attracts around 10,000 citizens and visitors to our downtown square
over those two days. We hope that thousands of attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy this unique
and FREE Recycled Art Show while visiting downtown Greensburg, Indiana. The timing is perfect for a
large number of people to engage with and appreciate the arts in our community!
We are also grateful to the Decatur County Solid Waste Management office for their support and
partnership in the Recycled Art Show. If you haven’t yet submitted artwork, we would love to have your
participation. Artwork must be turned in to Art on the Square Gallery during business hours by Saturday,
August 24th. Categories include: 5-8 years, 9-13 years, 14-18 years, and adults 18+. Artist stipends will
be awarded!
Of course, none of this would be possible without the support of the Indiana Arts Commission
(IAC)—thank you! We would also like to extend our gratitude to our local legislators for their support of the
Arts Project Support Program.”
Funding for the Indiana Arts Commission and its programs is provided by the Indiana General Assembly
and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
