City of Greensburg Board of Works Meeting- 8/14/24

The City of Greensburg Board of Works met on 8/13/24 at 5:30 pm. 

The meeting began with the approval of the July 9, 2024, meeting minutes. 

Matt Mason, Veridus Group Representative came to the board to provide an update. All sitework and furniture has been completed for the City Street Department. They received their Certificate of Occupancy on 7/12/24. 

The Fire Department has received its furniture, all parts for the elevator have been received, landscaping is completed, and 95% of all listed items have been completed inside. They have a meeting in hopes to receive their Certificate of Occupancy on 8/14/24. 

Mayor Josh Marsh asked that the public keep their calendars open for September 14, 2024 mid day as this is targeted to be the open house for both buildings. He said that more specific times and information will be provided. 

Matt added that currently they are on track for their updated budget of $20.6 million for the entire project. 

Melissa Brown received approval for use of city roads for the 5th Annual Caleb Brown 5K on September 21, 2024. 

Mike McNealy, Police Chief, received approval to provide a conditional offer of employment to candidate 3. 

Nathan Stoermer, Fire Chief, received approval to promote Ethan Steele and Ethan Ripberger from Probationary FireFighter to First Class Firefighter. He also received approval to create a list and do an internal auction of any surplus equipment that the Fire Department does not plan to move with them. He plans to offer these items to county fire departments. Once he has total bids he will return for final approval from the Board of Works. Nathan also received approval to sell a reserve engine that New Point Volunteer Fire Department has offered to purchase once the ladder truck is back in service. 

Mark Klosterkemper, Street Commissioner received approval of the contract with USI to complete Phase 4 of the Park Road Project. This will be sent to INDOT for appropriation of the funding. 

Zach Wirrig, Director of Public Projects came to the board to discuss:

CCMG 2023-2 Franklin Street Change Order 1- This was to upgrade the electrical panel and add additional electrical outlets for vendors and food trucks on Franklin Street during festivals and events. This was approved. 

CCMG 2023-2 Franklin Street Update- Zach said that the landscaping has been completed and the sod has been laid towards the courthouse. He said that the electrical panel from the change order will be in at the end of the week. They will begin striping and painting the crosswalks tomorrow. They plan to be open by September 1, 2024. 

CCMG 2024-1 Washington Street Update- The contract was awarded to Schutte Excavating with an approximate start date of sometime in October. 

CCMG- 2024-2 Application Submission- They have applied for left over funding from the CCMG projects that would be work on 11 streets, which would be approximately 30 blocks were they would repave the road, redo sidewalks and curbs. He said that they hope to hear back later this fall if they are approved for the funding. If approved construction would begin in the spring 2025.

Mayor Marsh received approval for the O’Mara Pay app which is the remainder of the Vine Street project, and South Vine Street Pay app #3 & #4 which will wrap up the project. Mayor Marsh received approval for the Generator repair at the Stormwater Treatment Plant. 

The Board of Works approved $30,000 for an on call service with Strand. 

The Board of Works tabled a decision on a Cummins Generator Contract for generator maintenance and will review next month when they have additional quotes to compare. 

The Board of Works approved all claims.
