On October 6, 2025, Decatur County Superior Court Judge Matthew Bailey denied two motions filed by attorneys representing Christian Rust: a motion for a change of venue and a motion to dismiss Counts I and II of the case. Rust served as the previous Washington Township Trustee in Decatur County, Indiana.
The two counts that were denied for motion to dismiss were:

- Count II: Official misconduct, in violation of Indiana Code 35-44.1-1-1(1).
