Decatur County Commissioners Meeting Review

The meeting began with the approvals of prior meeting minutes, payroll claims, and monthly claims.

The commissioners heard from Sheriff Bill Meyerrose and approved the new contract for Combined Public Communications (CPC). They are a major jail and prison telecom provider. Sheriff Meyerrose stated that this contract is similar to the prior with additional features offered.

The commissioners spoke at their last meeting about the additional costs associated with the Fairgrounds project. Commissioner Jeremy Pasel took those costs to the County Council and received their approval for them to move forward. The commissioners revisited this conversation during their meeting and approved the additional costs.

A representative from Lochmueller Group provided information on the Safe Streets for All: Future SR 3 Highway Safety Action Plan finalization and adoption. The representative explained that this plan serves as a roadmap for involved parties to better prepare for future grants and projects. The primary focus of this collaboration is to reduce highway fatalities in the area. The project spans from I-70 to SR 421.

The commissioners voted to have Desiree Moore be their representative on the Centerstone Board. The commissioners are postponing their vote for their representative on the Parks Board.

The commissioners approved $5,026.47 for a new conference room table and twenty chairs for the Extension Office conference room.

The commissioners will be publishing a bid request for Port-a-Lets for the fair. They will need 10 units delivered no later then July 5, 2026 and picked up no later then July 17, 2026. They will need serviced, cleaned, and stocked daily.
