Large and small grants are made possible by donations made to a community fund. Community
funds are unrestricted—they support broad, real-time projects in the county. Donations made to
community funds are invested, and interest earned off of those investments are used for
grantmaking the following year. Likewise, donations made to the Women’s and Children’s Fund
are invested, and the interest earned will be granted out to women’s/children’s projects the next
year.
