Decatur County Community Schools Board of Education

The Decatur County Community Schools Board of Education met on Wednesday.

The board approved the following resignations: North Decatur- Eric Blodgett, School Resource Officer, Chris Hampton, Custodian, and South Decatur- Kathy Rice, Lead Preschool Teacher. The board approved the medical leave of Jessica Meyer, Nurse, from North Decatur.

The board approved the following end of the year Financial Matters: Permission to Transfer Appropriations for Year End Balancing, Permission to Transfer 2022 Professional Services and Building Construction Plans and Appropriations of Operations Funds to Operations Fund 2023, and Permission to Transfer the Technology Portion (Connectivity, Equipment, Content) of Operations Funds to Operations Fund 2023. These are all routine matter that have to be done to prepare for the coming year.

All student fundraisers were approved. Donations including food items, gift cards, a mini bus, and practice rounds were accepted by the school board. The board approved of the disposal of obsolete equipment.

Board Member Chris Owens received an award for his years of service on the school board. He has spent 20 years on the board, has been to over 300 meetings and says that he would do it all again in a heartbeat. Owned stated that while he is a father of 6 daughters, he considers himself and the board a parent to all of the kids who are the future. The board thanked him for his years on the board.
