Decatur County Memorial Hospital Board Meeting

The Governing Board of Decatur County Memorial Hospital held its regular meeting on August 27, 2026, with Chairperson Tammy Williams calling the meeting to order at approximately 7:00 p.m.


As part of the Consent Agenda, the Board approved the minutes from the June 25, 2026 meeting and reviewed the June and July 2026 financial information, including cash and investment balances and capital asset purchases. During the Regular Agenda, the Board received a financial report and heard committee
reports from the Quality Management Committee, Planning Committee, Compliance/Risk Management/Audit Committee, and both the Finance Committee and Investment Subcommittee from their most recent meetings. The finance report included continued improvement of hospital performance. Under new business, the Board considered and acted on contract approvals and capital requests. The Board also received an operational update from the President and CEO, Rex McKinney. Rex gave an update on continued operational improvements and the ongoing challenges and external pressures in the healthcare environment. Over 50 DCMH employees volunteered during the 2026 Decatur County Fair and over 30 team members were supported at the Decatur County 4H auction as well as surrounding county auctions. DCMH recently held free employee lab screenings, for the second year in a row, supporting over 300 team members and their health screenings. Rex acknowledged a recent Patient & Family Advisory Council meeting that occurred and allowed for members of the community to provide direct feedback.

Finally, Rex acknowledged some upcoming events with DCMH involvement including Total Joint Day, Men’s Health Tailgate, DCMH Flu Clinics, and Family Fun Day in Westport. The Medical Staff Report included consideration of applications for appointment and reappointment to the Medical Staff, as well as notices of Medical Staff terminations and amendments to privileges. Members were reminded of the next regular scheduled meeting on September 24, 2026 before the meeting adjourned
