Decatur County Visitors Commission

The Decatur County Visitors Commission met on Thursday.

The EDC 2022 standing line item grant was approved.

The board held a discussion on the sales director position. Brad Fox recently resigned from the sales director position for the ball diamonds and the board must now decide whether or not they wish to immediately fill this position. The board discussed the option of focusing the energy of the sales manager on Pirate Park rather than the ball diamonds for the future and later creating another position to focus on the ball diamonds separately. This will need to be discussed with the Mayor as Pirate Park is a city project.

Erica Gunn gave a marketing update. They recently purchased a $6,000 ad package with Travel Indiana magazine, which was in their budget. They have also been working with the Greensburg Daily News on a bicentennial program to be put in the paper highlighting all the events that took place this year.

The Bicentennial has only 2 events left before they wrap up the year. The Glenn Miller Orchestra will be putting on a free, ticketed event Holiday Show on December 11. Due to the success of North Decatur’s football team the Top 200 Athletes event has been postponed to December 23.
