Greensburg Board of Works Meeting- 3/11/25

The meeting began with the approval of the February 11th Regular meeting minutes and the February 27th Executive Session meeting minutes.

Deena Hamer, Decatur County YMCA received approval for road closures for the Tree City Rolling Tour on June 28, 2025. Deena spoke about road closures and their willingness to be flexible with their route. Mayor Marsh asked that they not use any type of paint on the roadways. Deena stated that they are also requested police and safety personnel from the city to support the ride. Deena told the board that they have spoken to the funeral homes and the Baptist Church about using their parking lots to reduce parking in front of local businesses.

Sarah Walton, Girl Scouts received board support for the 5th annual Cookie Crumbles on April 12, 2025, at Rebekah Park using the trail system.

Nathan Stoermer, Fire Chief received board approval to accept the amounts that were submitted for the surplus equipment that they had available. These were from three local volunteer fire departments.

Derek Fasnacht, Greensburg Assistant Police Chief received approval for road closures for the Public Safety Cookouts and National Night Out for 2025.

During the meeting Asst. Chief Fasnacht presented the promotion of Officer Jacob Mays to Sergeant. Derek stated that Officer Mays has answered 6,322 calls for service, and that he began his career with GPD in 2016. He stated that Officer Mays is dedicated in all activities that he is a part of.

Receiving the Meritorious Service Award was Allison Reece Miller. Officer Miller began working at GPD in 2023 and was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Unit in 2024. Allison was part of investigating one of the largest cases of 2024 and with her work and dedication will bring justice for residents in Greensburg and outside. Assist Chief Fasnacht stated that Allison is diligent and dedicated in all she does as an officer.

Zach Wirrig, Public Projects Director received approval for HNTB to move forward with engineering a design for the N. Broadway Sewer project from Tenth Street to Smith Road including the Lift Station on Smith Road. Zach also received approval for the Christopher B Burke GIS on-call service agreement. Zach asked that the Liberty Circle Retention Pond outfall quote be tabled pending review of what the city is responsible for in regard to maintaining and upkeep for retention ponds in the city. The discussion was tabled.

Zach provided an update on all city projects.

The board approved all claims.
