Greensburg City Council

Greensburg City Council met on Tuesday.

There was a discussion held on ordinance 2022-16 an alley vacation on Washington Street. This was discussed at last months meeting where it was made known that both petitioners needed to enter into an agreement for accessibility before it was vacated. One petitioner has since withdrawn and made note that there was no agreement reached. The board denied the vacation of the alley.

The Indiana Small Business Development Center came to the council requesting their continued support for the coming year. They feel that last year was very successful with a large part of the success being the city’s support. They work with the Chamber of Commerce in order to meet new clients and have had a high amount of business starts so far this year. They have put $506,000 into small businesses in 2021 alone.

EDC Director Bryan Robbins presented resolution 2022-4 for the Heritage Hill Tax abatement. Heritage Hill is a new event center that will be located on the old St Mary’s property. They want to repurpose this staple location in our community and utilize all 4 structures there in some way to preserve the historical significance to the community as it is over 140 years old. The project is still in the early beginning phases but they feel that this will benefit the community as it is something we don’t have. This was approved.

Street Commissioner Mark Klosterkemper announced that Heavy Trash will be August 15-19. They will no longer be taking construction or demolition debris and all trash must be bagged accordingly.

Mayor Josh Marsh will be on the Decatur County Community Fund Lilly Endowment Committee. Mayor Marsh invites everyone to the Water Plant Open House on Saturday, August 20 from 11:00am – 1:00 pm. The Mayor invites everyone to National Night Out on Thursday, August 18 at North Park from 5:00-8:00 pm.
