Greensburg School Board Announces Leadership Restructuring to Support Student Success

At its June 9 meeting, the Greensburg Community School Board of Trustees approved a
restructuring of the district’s administrative team designed to strengthen leadership capacity,
improve operational oversight, and support continued student success.
As part of the reorganization, Matt Clifford will transition from Principal of Greensburg Junior
High School to Assistant Superintendent. Tammy Williams, who currently serves as Director of

Curriculum, will also assume the role of Assistant Superintendent while continuing her district-
wide leadership responsibilities in curriculum, instruction, assessment, grant writing, and

academic programming. In his new role, Clifford will oversee business and operational
functions, including human resources, transportation, food services, compliance, and personnel
administration. Both administrators will report directly to Superintendent Tom Hunter.
The Board’s decision reflects the growing complexity of operating a modern school corporation.
Over the past two decades, school districts have experienced significant increases in state and
federal reporting requirements, personnel administration, regulatory compliance, school
finance responsibilities, student support services, and operational oversight.
“Public education today is far more complex than it was twenty years ago,” said Board President
Emily McNulty. “The Board believes this leadership structure positions Greensburg Community
Schools to continue providing outstanding educational opportunities while ensuring the
district’s operational responsibilities receive the attention and expertise they require.”
The Board emphasized that the restructuring is intended to strengthen organizational
effectiveness, clarify areas of responsibility, and create greater capacity within the district’s
leadership team. The goal is to allow Superintendent Hunter to remain focused on overall
district leadership, strategic planning, community engagement, and student success while
delegating specialized responsibilities to experienced administrators.
The Board also recognizes that Superintendent Hunter’s leadership has provided Greensburg
Community Schools with remarkable stability and success over the past two decades. While no
timeline has been established for his retirement, the Board believes it is important to develop
leadership capacity within the organization and ensure the district is equipped for the future.
The Board further wishes to emphasize that whenever a superintendent vacancy occurs, the
selection of the next Superintendent of Greensburg Community Schools will be conducted
through an open and transparent process. Any future superintendent appointment will be made
by the Board of Trustees following a comprehensive search and selection process.
“The responsibility of the Board is to make decisions that serve the long-term interests of our
students, staff, and community,” McNulty said. “This restructuring is about strengthening the

district today while ensuring Greensburg Community Schools remain well-positioned for
continued success in the years ahead.”
