Juvenile arrested after vehicle pursuit

Greensburg, IN – On May 18, 2023 at approximately 8:24 pm a leaving the scene vehicle
accident was reported in the 1800 block of north Montgomery Road. The vehicle that left the
scene of the accident was described as a blue single cab F-150 with a white sign on it. Officers
responded to the area to look for the truck.
A Decatur County Sheriff’s Deputy located the truck exiting the Walmart parking lot. The
deputy tried to initiate a traffic stop but the driver of the truck began to flee the scene. The
truck drove south on Middle Road and went into the Domino’s Pizza parking lot, crashing into
the building. The driver of the truck was then placed into custody by law enforcement officers.
The driver was identified as a sixteen year old juvenile. The juvenile was treated by Decatur
County EMS for a complaint of pain to his leg. No other injuries were reported. While on scene
the officers were advised that the truck was reported as stolen from 100 block of south Franklin
Street. The Greensburg Fire Department responded to the scene and assessed the structural
stability of the Domino’s building.
After receiving medical treatment the juvenile was placed under arrest and transported to the
Bartholomew County Youth Center. The juvenile was charged by the Decatur County Sheriff’s
Department on allegations involving Theft of a Motor Vehicle a Level 6 Felony, Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon a Level 6 Felony, Resisting Law Enforcement with a motor vehicle a Level 6
Felony, Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident a Class B Misdemeanor, Operating a
Motor Vehicle without ever receiving a license a Class C Misdemeanor and Reckless Driving a
Class C Misdemeanor.
The Greensburg Police Department would like to thank the Decatur County Sheriff’s
Department, the Decatur County Central Dispatch, the Greensburg Fire Department and
Decatur County EMS for their assistance in this case.
Under law, criminal charges are merely accusation, and the defendants are presumed innocent
unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
