Decatur County received substantial rainfall amounts as a result of a multi state storm system that passed through on Wednesday evening leaving parts of the state without power and with significant damage due to extreme winds and suspected tornado activity. Many schools across the state were closed or delayed today due to storm damage and power outages.
Additional rainfall is expected between now and Sunday morning with flood watches in place and the potential for flood warnings and road closures. Citizens are asked to pay attention to the weather forecasts in the upcoming days and be safe when traveling and not attempt to cross water flooded roads.
