In September 2024, I had the pleasure to meet with Max Schory and his mother Liz Schory. I was overwhelmed by the energy and dedication this young man had for raising funds for Decatur County Memorial Hospital. I was equally as excited to see Max’s update on his Facebook Page- Max’s 2025 DCMH Fundraiser that with the assistance of his friend Dylan they raised $557 this summer. They raised those funds by creating and selling calendars. Like a true hero the post says. “thanks to YOUR support.” I believe we can all agree that the credit all lies with this young man and his hard-working crew. I cannot wait to follow along with this amazing group of kids and see what 2026 might hold.
For the best part of the story: the funds raised of $557 was a new record for Max.
