As part of Skilled Nursing Home Week celebrations, Morning Breeze took time to honor one of their most beloved team members, Lloyd Bloomfield, for his unwavering dedication and heartfelt service.
Lloyd, who serves as the facility’s Spiritual Advisor, was surprised during a special celebration on Tuesday when he was named both the 2024 Morning Breeze Shining Star Award, and the 2024 Exceptional Living Center Annual Shining Star Award
Exceptional Living, the company that operates Morning Breeze and 11 other senior living communities across multiple states, employs approximately 1,400 staff members. To be selected as the top employee among such a large and diverse team is a testament to Loyd’s impact not only within Morning Breeze but across the entire organization.
Known for his warm smile and uplifting spirit, Lloyd offers consistent spiritual support and comfort to residents, families, and staff. Whether it’s visiting a resident in the hospital, leading a prayer, or simply celebrating a birthday with cake and laughter, Lloyd is always present with kindness and joy. Holly, a fellow team member, shared that “Lloyd always has a smile on his face and is willing to help with anything. He has such a positive and bubbly personality—it’s contagious.”
The day’s celebration, which was presented as a Jamaican Day event in honor of Lloyd’s heritage, featured a flavorful feast prepared by Lloyd and a friend, allowing residents to enjoy the tastes of Jamaica. Lloyd believed he was simply part of the cultural celebration—until the surprise announcement revealed he was the guest of honor.
Family members joined virtually to witness the special moment. His niece and her second-grade class in Jamaica, along with his son in Texas, watched with pride via Zoom. The event also included a heartfelt appearance by Exceptional Living CEO David, who drove from southern Tennessee to be part of the surprise ceremony.
After receiving his award and a commemorative check, Lloyd offered humble words: “Thank you to everyone. I couldn’t have done it without you. This is me and always will be me.”
