Neighbors Helping Neighbors: RISE for Justice Distributes $500 in Groceries to Those in Need

On Saturday November 1st, a local organization, RISE for Justice, brought the community together for a Community Food Relief event aimed at helping those in need. The group, made up of like-minded individuals dedicated to ensuring that no one in Decatur County is left behind or underserved, invited residents to stop by and pick up groceries and essential items.

The response was overwhelming — all $500 worth of groceries were distributed during the event, with only a few remaining items. Those leftovers were used to restock three local food pantry boxes in town.

RISE for Justice extended their thanks to the Decatur County Pride Alliance and the Decatur County Democratic Party for their monetary donations, as well as to Dog Eared Pages for collecting and contributing items for the effort.

Organizers emphasized that food insecurity remains a serious issue in Decatur County and said they will continue stepping up whenever they see a need in the community. For more information on RISE for Justice please check them out on Facebook.
