Greensburg Fire Department Announces Promotions, Awards at Recognition Ceremony Greensburg, IN – The Greensburg Fire Department announced promotions, recipients of the Life Saving Award, and Firefighter of the Year at their 2024 Recognition Ceremony on Tuesday, July 16. The awards and promotions announced are as follows: Promotions Assistant Chief Ron Reynolds Firefighter Caleb Stevens Firefighter Trent Campbell Firefighter Walker Gabbard Firefighter John Hammersmith Firefighter Ethan Ripberger Firefighter Ethan Steele Promotions of probationary firefighters to First Class firefighters are effective on their one year anniversary date, while the promotion of Assistant Chief will go into effect in 2025. Firefighter of the Year Lieutenant Ron Reynolds The Firefighter of the Year is give to a firefighter who the department nominates as a team member who demonstrates leadership and mentorship within the department. Life Saving Award Firefighter John Hammersmith Lieutenant Ron Reynolds Lieutenant Jarrod Prentice Firefighter Caleb Stevens The Life Saving Award is given to firefighters who successfully worked an out of hospital cardiac arrest with a successful outcome in the last year. “We are here tonight to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our membership over the past year while giving thanks to their families as well as they share them with us,” said Greensburg Fire Chief Nathan Stoermer. “I am continually proud of our team and the dedication our public safety shows to our community,” said Mayor Joshua Marsh. “These men have dedicated their lives to saving others and keeping our community safe, and I am proud to continue supporting their good work.
