United Fund Supports Speranza House

[Greensburg, IN December 16, 2024—] The Decatur County United Fund Board of Directors recently approved $7,200 towards the Speranza House Broadway location to help cover expenses until state funding is received. This is a one-time gift.

United Fund and Speranza House believes every woman deserves the opportunity to begin her recovery journey without financial hardship as a barrier. Speranza’s short-term scholarship program helps cover the cost of five women housed in their newly opened facility. Speranza House has currently applied for certification by the state to receive state funding. Due to the timeline and waiting period for state funding, this support is pivotal to help these women take their first step to a healthier, sober, and fulfilling life.

Our partnership demonstrates how working together we can provide the tools to rebuild individuals lives and for them to contribute positively to our community. Our latest stats show 137 women have improved their lives and worked to overcome their addiction and seek recovery with the help from Speranza House. 87% are in active recovery with their average length of stay at 126 days. 83 women are employed.

Joane Cunningham, Executive Director of United Fund stated, “As a community and with the

help of United Fund, we support sixteen funded partners providing valuable resources in keeping families healthy, supporting educational programs, and financial stability for all. Speranza House is one of these sixteen partners and continues to expand and provide valuable services to those in our community.

“It is amazing to see Speranza House work with women in recovery. This expansion is a perfect example of the high priority to meet these specific recovery needs. I am very proud of the funded partner, their strong board, and due diligence to provide valuable resources,” shared Cunningham.
