Two Greensburg Athletes advance

JACKSON, GRIMES ADVANCE TO TRACK REGIONAL AFTER 1-2 FINISH IN SHOT PUT, DISCUS

Senior Emarie Jackson and junior Olivia Grimes both advanced to next week’s girls track and field regional at Shelbyville after a 1-2 finish in the shot put and discus in Wednesday’s IHSAA Sectional 24 at East Central. Jackson earned a sectional championship and set new sectional and stadium records with a shot put throw of 50-2.25 and a discus throw of 156-4. Grimes finished second in the shot put with a throw of 39-8 and a discus throw of 125-6. Both advance to the Shelbyville regional on Tuesday, May 21 at 6 p.m. Tickets for the regional are available at this link: https://public.eventlink.com/tickets?t=81388 As a team, the Pirates finished fifth out of 13 schools. East Central won the team scoring portion of the sectional. Other notable finishes for the Pirates include Carmin Rippenger, who finished fourth in the 1600m and fifth in the 3200m. Ava Wilmer finished fifth in the pole vault at a height of 8’0″.
