Pirates 8th grade basketball defeat North Decatur Chargers, 36-22, on Tuesday, as Max Buening scored 13 points.
Trailing 2- 0, Pirates went on a 9-point run to take the lead. Leading 9- 6, Pirates went on a 10-1 run to pull further away. Pirates had a strong first half, leading 17-7 at halftime and never looked back, securing the victory.
Pirates found their groove in the third quarter, outscoring North Decatur Chargers 9-3. The team shot 4-6 in the quarter.
Pirates shot well from distance, going 4-12 from three. Max Buening hit three threes for Pirates.
Levi Muckerheide (10 points), Josh Alexander (5 points), Matthew Fields (4 points), Mason Herpel (2 points), and Colt McCalvin (2 points) also pitched for the Pirates.
Pirates plays at home on Thursday against Jennings Co. 8th Panthers in their next game.
