The IHSAA State Cross-Country Meet was held Saturday afternoon at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course in Terre Haute. Spring Valley’s Calvin Seitz edged Westview’s Noah Bontrager by 0.02 s for the individual state title. Columbus North won the team championship with 58 pts. The other podium teams included Noblesville, Homestead, Bloomington North, and Northridge.
Greensburg High School had athletes running in both the boys’ and girls’ race. Joe Hawkins represented the Pirates in the boys’ competition. The senior placed 141st in the meet with a time of 16:39.7. Hawkins finishes his cross-country career with a personal best time of 15:34.4, which ranks fourth all-time in school history. Joe won six different races in 2025. He was all-conference each of his four seasons including this year when he was the EIAC Champion and conference MVP. He was also all-sectional each of the last four falls as well as a State Qualifier out of the Evansville Regional as a junior and a senior.
Indian Creek’s Libby Dowty won her second State Championship in the last three years. The Senior took the lead early in the race and won with a time of 17:10.2. Carmel captured the team championship scoring a meet low 100 pts. The other top five finishers in the team standings were Ft. Wayne Concordia Lutheran, Bloomington South, Homestead, and Penn.
Greensburg’s Eleanor Davis finished her first year of high school running 18:57.6 for 5000m. The freshman harrier placed 60th overall out of 249 runners. Eleanor was the winner in six of the twelve races that she competed in this year. Her personal best time of 18:42.2 is the second fastest in school history. She was all-EIAC, all-sectional, and all-regional in 2025 as well as an individual State Qualifier.
