The Greensburg High School Cross-Country teams raced in the Franklin Invitational on Saturday August 30th. In the boys’ competition, Columbus North’s Joseph Day was the individual champion running 15:34.9 for 5000m. Center Grove took home the team title with 48 pts. The Pirates earned 9th place out of the 20 schools that ran. The boys’ record is now 16-8 for 2025.
Joe Hawkins was the runner-up earning 2nd place overall out of 264 runners. He recorded a personal best time of 15:46.0. That performance moved the senior into 6th place all-time for 5 km at Greensburg. Xavier Cassis also set a new personal record Saturday morning. Cassis placed 45th in 17:08.4. Junior Quinton lowered his best time ever for cross-country taking 54th in 17:21.6.
Henry Corya broke 19:00 for the first time in 2025 as he placed 120th in 18:58.1. Conner Bedel was Greensburg’s fifth runner at Franklin. He was 145th in 19:37.2. Several other Greensburg runners had personal best times including Jackson Tekulve (19:45.9), Oliver Corya (19:59.8), Luke Dwenger (20:09.8), Ethan Clifford (20:25.6), Noah Grossman (21:14.7), and Patrick Robbins (21:42.0)
In the girls’ competition Indian Creek’s Libby Dowty led the race from start to finish. She defended her title and was victorious in a time of 17:38.6. Columbus North earned the team title with 66 pts. The Lady Pirates placed 9th out of 18 schools racing Saturday morning. Their record for 2025 currently stands at 14-8.
Freshman Eleanor Davis was the top finisher for the Lady Pirates. She placed 6th overall in a personal best time of 19:19.2. Davis now ranks 4th all-time for 5 km at Greensburg. Lulu Webb used a strong finish to earn 26th place overall. Webb’s time of 20:50.0 was also a personal best and moved her into the 13th fastest performance in school history.
Alaina Bedel took 44th place overall in 21:40.0, her best time of 2025. Alli Bedel and Josie Slaven worked together over the middle kms of the race. Bedel placed 106th and lowered her personal best to 24:37.4 while Slaven was 120th in 24:59.8.
Sophomore Chloie Davis recorded her fastest time ever for 5 km running 26:59.4. Avonlee Bohall also ran her career best time of 28:27.0. Junior Elizabeth Walden continued her steady improvement in 2025 breaking the 30:00 barrier for the first time and finishing in 28:38.5. Both teams will compete in the Columbus North’s Rick Weinheimer Classic next weekend at Ceraland. The boys’ race is scheduled to start at 9 am.
