Greensburg JH Cross Country 8/23/21


The Greensburg Junior High Cross Country Teams hosted a 24 team Invitational Monday night. The Lady Pirates ran without a complete team and the boys placed 5th overall. The Columbus Northside Spartans won both the Girls and Boys events.
Lexiyne Harris was crowned the 2021 Greensburg Invitational Runner Up Champion with an outstanding 12:05.4 finish just 2 seconds shy of the individual championship. Lexiyne led the front pack the majority of the race jockeying for the 1st place finish with Columbus Northside’s top runner. These two ladies will have the opportunity to battle it out again later in the season. Other finishers for the ladies included Brianna Berkemeier (76th), Scarlett Schoettmer (99th) and Jenna Meyer (104th). In the non-scoring JV race, Haleigh Stewart ran a new personal best time of 18:35.3 by shedding over 5 minutes from her previous timed 3K. 
The Boys Team was very competitive with Quinton Walker and Xavier Cassis both earning ribbons placing 16th and 17th out of 135 total competitors. Quinton finished in 12:05.7 while Xavier ran 12:09.1. Mason McNulty placed 37th with a new season best time of 13:08. Other Varsity finishers included Max Buening (49th), Luther Berkemeier (58th), Brennan Noah (63rd), and Ethan Clifford (65th). In the JV race Nick Hunter led his teammates with a 9th place ribbon earning race while teammate Sam Crowell also earned a ribbon for the 15th position. The most improved male runner of the evening was Henry Corya with over a 2 minute improvement in 18:40.1.
The Pirates will travel to Rushville on Thursday to compete against the Benjamin Rush Lions in their first duel meet of the season.
