Greensburg Soccer

The Greensburg Pirates hosted the Franklin County Wildcats for a
conference matchup at Pirate field and came away with a 9-0 victory.
The shutout win marks the first time in Coach DeVolld’s tenure at
Greensburg that the team registered a shutout win in back-to-back
games. The Pirates got the scoring started early and often in the
first half with the game’s first goal coming from Cy Miller. The first
half scoring didn’t stop there for Cy as he recorded 2 more goals
before the end of the first half. Freshman Ethan Smith got in on the
first half scoring for the Pirates as well, netting 2 goals in the
first half, and recording an assist on one of Cy Miller’s first half
goals. The Pirates also saw the first goal of the season from junior
captain Adam Underhill as the Pirates were awarded a penalty kick off
of a hand ball in the box and Underhill was able to knock it in. The
Pirates took a 6-0 lead into halftime and were able to continue
scoring in the second half with goals coming from Cy Miller, Ethan
Smith, and John Robbins.
With his 2 goals and 1 assist in the game, freshman Ethan Smith set a
new Pirate record for points in a season for a freshman. Ethan has 6
goals and 5 assists so far this season, good for 17 points, which is a
new freshman record.
