Carmen Thackery and Libby Crawford collected three hits in four at bats, as North Decatur Varsity Chargers defeated Morristown 11-5 on Thursday. Thackery tripled in the sixth inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the third inning. Crawford tripled in the fifth inning, doubled in the sixth inning, and singled in the first inning. Morristown were the first to get on the board in the first when Nevaeh Cox lined out, scoring one run. A single by Brooklyn White gave North Decatur Varsity Chargers the lead, 2-1, in the top of the second. Morristown took the lead, 5-3, in the bottom of the third thanks to singles by Cox, Ayvah Weir, and Madalyn Shaffer. North Decatur Varsity Chargers tied the game in the top of the fourth thanks to a ground out by Elizabeth Meister, and a single by Madison Rohls. In the top of the fifth, North Decatur Varsity Chargers broke up the tie when Libby Crawford tripled, scoring one run. Then a single by Ally Whitaker followed to extend the lead to 7-5. Abby Hawk stepped in the circle first for Morristown. The pitcher surrendered 10 hits and seven runs (five earned) over four innings, striking out six and walking one. Meister appeared in relief for North Decatur Varsity Chargers. North Decatur Varsity Chargers accumulated 14 hits in the game.
